Here East is an innovation and technology campus situated in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Hackney, East London. It was created from the former Olympic games media centre after the conclusion of the 2012 Games. Comprising 84,000m² of business space, it is now home to a mix of innovators, visionaries and exciting local businesses.

The original fitout was completed just before the mainstream transition to LED lighting and  made use of continuous suspended raft light systems with fluorescent lamps. With the ban on the sale of Fluorescent tubes just round the corner in 2024, RIDI have helped upgrade the lighting to new LED units with all the benefits of energy saving, longeveity and low maintenance that modern LED fittings bring.

RIDI UK’s Stratos range was used to replace the existing lighting, while using the original suspensions and cabling. Stratos, which is designed and produced in the UK, has immense flexibility and can be tuned to match existing lighting designs so that a straight swap achieves the original design ethos and lighting characteristics, with a minimum of disruption to the building.

Stratos is designed and made to order in the UK to ensure a simple 1:1 replacement while maintaining the original lighting design brief. In this case the new Stratos luminaire replaced 2x35W T5 Fluorescents for an almost 50% reduction of installed load.
