51-55 Hatton Garden is an address located in the Hatton Garden area of London, England. This area is well-known for its historical association with the jewellery trade and is home to many jewellery stores, workshops, and other businesses related to the jewellery industry.
The Bindery, so named as it is built on the site of a book-binding business, is set in an Art Deco building from the 1930s. Having worked previously with the developers Dorrington and the architects Piercy & Company, Spectral’s S36 linear system was chosen to offer outstanding levels of comfort with optimum efficiency and a quality of light that complimented the classical building features and adding to the attention to detail. In a bid to welcome people back to the office after the pandemic a warmer atmosphere was chosen with a warmer white used throughout the footplates. As a result the floors exude a relaxed and comfortable aura.
In addition RIDI’s Tino track mounted spotlights were chosen to add further style and balance to the scheme.
The brief called for impeccable credentials of sustainability and wellness. Guided by Carbon Intelligence, sustainability was central to the project, and resulted in The Bindery getting an EPC rating of A. Exceeding environmental targets by using the very latest in zerocarbon technology, lighting was a key ‘ingredient’ which resulted in a carefully planned and optimised layout, complemented with lighting control for achieving the best balance of light comfort and power consumption.
